Badge, Book and Candle

(Place a Scout badge, The official Scout Handbook, and a lighted candle on a table)

Scouts, since 1910 these three things have been significant in the Boy Scouts of America.

The badge is the symbol of Scouting throughout the United States. Similar badges are used by Scouts all over the world. It is the sign of a universal brotherhood of men and boys of the free world.

There are many books that are important to good Scouts; the handbooks to help us with Scoutcraft skills; the merit badge pamphlets with information about special skills; and, most important of all, the Bible to guide our daily lives. A candle is a symbol of the light of Scouting that penetrates the darkness of hate, prejudice, war, strife, and distrust. It is a light that must be kept burning in the heart of every Scout, now, and as he grows into manhood.

This site is a personal site, and is no way whatsoever connected to any 'official' Scouting Organization. Opinions expressed here are solely those of the Retired Scouter. If you don't like the current opinion you can contact me for others, I have plenty. More importantly, I have the time to tell them to you. Information that is downloaded from this site may be used in your program or re-published without asking my permission, I probably glommed it off of somebody else anyways. If you're going re-publish somebody else's information that isn't from this site, you should ask for their permission first. Some links/files may not reflect the current scouting programming in your local area. Camp coffee is an art and very few of us know how to prepare it properly, and no, I won't share.
